Meraki Food Group is owned and operated by husband and wife duo Vassilis and Katerina Coumbaros. Their family-owned restaurants are based on Orlando's bustling International Drive. Each concept is distinct but rooted in culture, passed-down recipes, and unforgettable experiences. 


Meraki Food Group has some of Orlando’s most award-winning restaurants. Tourists and locals alike show up for freshly imported ingredients, curated beverage programs, and live entertainment that leaves ready to come back from more and more.


It was all a dream!

Let’s go back to 2007. Katerina was fresh out of Disney’s culinary program and Vassilis was General Manager of the Taverna Opa in South Beach. The young couple was ambitious and hungry to bring a taste of Greece to Central Florida. Shortly after opening Taverna Opa Orlando, recipes straight from Katerina’s yia-yia’s kitchen were getting made for hundreds of people every day. Today, thousands of customers, celebrations, and corporate gatherings later, Taverna Opa Orlando is recognized as Orlando’s #1 Greek restaurant year after year.

Next Stop - Spain

As if one restaurant wasn’t enough, the Coumbaros family took their Mediterranean roots and headed to Spain’s coastal cities for inspiration for Meraki Food Group's next concept: Tapa Toro.  The  celebrated Spanish restaurant is known and loved for its imported Iberico jamón, beautiful paella pit, and lively flamenco dancers.

Heading South

They say three's a crowd, we say it’s a party… especially when it’s on International Drive. The streets of Mexico and Texas inspired the team to create Kavas Tacos + Tequila. Kavas, a playful take on merging Katerina and Vassilis’ names, is all about simple flavors, shareable plates, and Big Taco Energy. Kavas Tacos’ bar also features a wide selection of imported and local wines and liquor, including more than 150 tequilas. ¡Comamos!
